Correct. The model had Texas Tech; Texas Tech won 76-42.
Why the model had Texas Tech
- Texas Tech rates 24th of 366 teams, Jackson State 360th: a top-25 team against one of the weakest teams in Division I.
- The edge is mostly Texas Tech’s offense (92nd nationally) against Jackson State’s defense (354th).
- Texas Tech has played the 5th-toughest schedule, so its numbers are earned.
- Home court adds 2.7 points for Texas Tech.
- The books have Texas Tech by 38.5, right about where the model is. No spread edge.
- Projected total 154, in line with the 157.5 over/under.
- Early-season note: about 95% of these numbers are still last season’s.
Every pick is locked before tip-off and graded from the final score. How the model works.
